ZEN and the art of motorcycle maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig is the story told of a gentleman making an American journey with his son Chris and friends John and Silvia by motorcycle. Described as “The provokative, profound and deeply affecting classic that his inspired millions” this book was recommended by both my girlfriend and a friend Nick. About 1/3 of the way through now I am beginning to see why they mean, and think I am learning from its focus on the many and varying ways to view life.
And unlike my French friend Aude, who is on my list to write about at some point, you don’t even need to ride or have a motorbike to understand it; although a few tips for the maintenance of a motorcycle have been learnt.
