Jim, SmartFTP can hardly be described as "THE BEST" - it does nothing the others don't, and nothing that cannot be done in FileZilla or at a DOS Command Prompt.

Let face it FTP programs just login to web servers and transfer files on TCP/IP port 21, and chmod files - ALL OF THEM DO THAT including FileZilla, CuteFTP or the thousands of other alternatives.

Hence your charge has lost me - a career long user of SmartFTP.

End of argument - my blog turning up in the search engines, offering alternatives for your product (that you revoked my use of) has definitely lost you custom to FileZilla (you'd be surprised just how many I estimate from my web stats). Hence you are trying to justify your charge, and dump links on my blog (which you'll notice I haven't removed).

But let's face it FREE Filezilla at http://filezilla-project.org verses your $29 comparible product - WHAT DOES THE GUY AT NO1 IN GOOGLE FOR "TIM INTERNET" (BEATING TWO NATIONAL PHONE COMPANYS' OF THE SAME NAME, AND THE TIM THAT INVENTED THE INTERNET USE - HE USES FILEZILLA).

Nuff said!

Well, SmartFTP is still the best and their product is much cheaper than what the competitors are offering. They have been basically given a 50 USD product away for free for years. I'm happy to support them with my purchase. They also continue to improve the product. Look at the changelog at: http://www.smartftp.com/

Thank you, I tried filezilla a few years ago and it was far behind smartftp, however smartftp going from $0 to $36 is insane. Maybe a $5 donation or something but $36??? I will try filezilla again and hope they have some of those old bugs ironed out and I will never pay for smartftp.
