Bum PimpThis is Tim. He is a bum. He is on the internet. He lives under a highway overpass. He thinks he is the first bum on the internet. Tim does not know about www.street-people.com.
It seems that someone else has our idea of posting stories about bums on the internet. In this case it is a web marketing company that wanted to demonstrate how cleaver they are by posting YouTube videos about Tim the bum who panhandles by their office. I guess they would have been cleaver if we had not been doing it since 2006.
Thinking they are some sort of marketing geniuses the creators of the site talk about how their site uses insensitivity to address the issue of homelessness because feel good stories don’t get media attention. Image that we have only been preaching that for three years. I guess the creators behind pimpthisbum.com are such internet marketing geniuses that they forgot to check and see if someone else was already doing their “unique concept”
Pimpthatbum.com is doing something slightly different in that they are asking for money to send one bum to rehab. Our idea is a little larger in scope, stop giving bums money and they won’t have the money to buy drugs, beer, or what ever other substance they are using to scramble their brains. It called cold turkey – maybe a little pain and suffering will teach you that you don’t want to mess with that stuff again.
Although they are not the marketing geniuses they think they are Street-people.com celebrates another voice, or site, talking about the need to stop giving money to street people and start doing something to get them off the street. Raising money to send a guy to rehab seems about as good in the odds department and investing your money in the stock market. Why don’t you just save it instead for the pending collapse of our society when coffee will be $15 dollars a cup and you will need an MBA just to get a job at Wal-Mart
